President's Message

A Life of Enterprise and Service

Sri. T. Muralidhar Bhagavat was born in the year 1949 at Salem to Sri Raghavendra Bhagavat & Smt. Padmavathi, and is the great grandson of Sri Rao Bhadur Bhagavantham Gupta, who was a Collector in Madras Presidency in pre-independence days.

He had his education in Chennai and did his post-graduation in Engineering – M Tech, (Machine Tools) from IIT, Chennai in the year 1972, and is a Gold medalist.

He began his illustrious career as an Engineer in English Electric Company, Chennai, and continued there for 5 years during 1972 to 1977.

He moved to Mysore in the year 1978 to set up his own industry by establishing Forge Tools (Mysore) Pvt Ltd., an SSI unit for tool room activity, and expanded it by setting up MGM Industries in 1982 & MGM Forgings Pvt Ltd in 1995 for the manufacture of forgings catering to the automotive, defence and nuclear power sectors. He is presently a joint venture partner with a very large Italian forging company, Siderforgerossi.

He has been awarded with various honours including the Udyog Ratna award from the Government of India, and his contribution to Mysore's industrial sector has been recognized by the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, winning an award for excellence in exports. He served on the board of the Confederation of Indian Industries and has been Vice President of its Mysore chapter.

He has been a very generous philanthropist — a trustee and donor of Vasavi Shanthidama old age home, housing about 160 aged inmates, and a major donor to Sneha Kiran Mysore Spastic Society, a charitable trust set up for spastic children. He has been providing education for deserving children and medical help for the needy through his charitable trust.

He is a member of the Governing Council of Mahajana Education Society.
