Four Decades of Educating Finer Citizens

SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru (Autonomous) was established in the year 1982 under the aegis of Mahajana Education Society, which took its origin in 1937 through visionary philanthropists Sri Ambale Subramanya, Sri Rattehalli Ramappa and others in the city of Mysuru. The UG campus, located centrally in the premier residential area of Jayalakshmipuram, offers B.A, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc., BCA, and new-age professionally oriented programs such as BCA (AI, Data Science, and Cyber Security), B.Sc. (Criminology & Forensic Science, Psychology and Biochemistry), B.Sc. (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Computer Science), BBA (Hotel & Hospitality) and BBA (Aviation and International Tourism). The college has a well-built infrastructure spread over 6 acres comprising spacious classrooms with ICT facility, a well-stacked library housed in a separate wing across two floors, well-equipped laboratories, audio-visual and studio-media facilities, and a spacious stadium with a full-fledged gym.

Currently, 100+ well-qualified teachers, committed to the cause of education and supported by the management, have seen the college successfully come through three cycles of NAAC accreditation — awarded 'A' grade in the most recent cycle in 2015. The college also enjoys recognition by the UGC as a College with Potential for Excellence, now in its second phase. Over four decades it has carved a niche for itself in tertiary education, promoting higher education under the motto "Education to Excel," continuing to impart education that builds finer citizens as enshrined in its vision, rooted in the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.

The college places strong emphasis on developing students as leaders through its unique 'Student Parliament' concept, where students take on leadership roles through ASIC (Administration, Student, Institutional and Curricular Support) fora — alongside the award-winning NCC and NSS units, the SARANTA theatre troupe, VoMC volunteering, Rotaract, and more. Illustrious visitors including former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Sunderlal Bahuguna, Smt. Salumarada Thimakka, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev (an alumnus of Mahajana School), and Jnanpith & Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Chandra Shekara Kambara have all set foot on its campus, leaving generations of students inspired.
