SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru (Autonomous) was established in the year 1982 under the aegis of Mahajana Education Society that took its origin in 1937 by visionary philanthropists Sri Ambale Subramanya, Sri Rattehalli Ramappa and others in the city of Mysuru. The UG campus which is located centrally in a premier residential area, Jayalakshmipuram, offers B.A, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc., BCA and new age professionally oriented programs such as BCA (AI, Data Science, and Cyber Security), B.Sc. (Criminology & Forensic Science, Psychology and Biochemistry), B.Sc. (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Computer Science), BBA (Hotel & Hospitality) and BBA (Aviation and Intl.Tourism). The college has a well-built infrastructure spread over 6 acres comprising spacious classrooms with ICT facility, a well –stacked library housed in a separate wing on two floors, well equipped laboratories, audio-visual as well as studio–media facility and a spacious stadium with a full-fledged gym. Our students have bagged 75 ranks and 114 Gold Medals & 110 cash prizes from the University of Mysore till the year 2021 which was the last batch of graduands under the affiliation system.

Currently 100 plus well-qualified teachers with commitment towards the cause of education ably supported and encouraged by the management have seen the college successfully come through three cycles of NAAC accreditation. In the last cycle in the year 2015 the college was awarded ‘A’ grade. The college also enjoys the recognition by UGC as College with Potential for Excellence which is in its second phase. During the last four decades it has carved a niche for itself in the field of tertiary education promoting higher education with the Motto of ‘Education to Excel’. It continues to impart education to make finer citizens as enshrined in its vision statement built on the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. It has been attracting students across the country and also at the international level, making its presence felt on the map of premier education institutions.

The college has given thrust on developing students as leaders through its unique concept of ‘Student Parliament’ wherein the students are given leadership opportunities through ASIC (Administration, Student, Institutional and Curricular Support) fora which have provided the students a plethora of learning opportunities outside the classrooms and beyond the regular outfits like the award winning NCC and NSS units. Students have discovered and unleashed their potential through SARANTA- theatre troupe, VoMC (volunteering) Rotaract and a host of others. The achievers of the college are felicitated at the Weekly Assembly and thus given the rich recognition they deserve. Illustrious persons from different walks of society like former president of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Sunderlal Bahuguna, Smt. Salumarada Thimakka, Sri Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev(alumnus of Mahajana School) Jnanpith Awardee, Padma Bhushan Dr. Chandra Shekara Kambara and a host of others have set their foot on the corridors of the institution leaving behind thousands of minds inspired.  The college has been flourishing well by creating a healthy and distinct learning atmosphere, which is an amalgamation of academics and vibrant culture of arts, and sports making the campus a beehive of activities.
